Rongai Route

Rongai Route -7 Days trek

The Rongai route is unique as it starts on the northern slope of Kilimanjaro, an area that sees fewer hikers but is just as captivating as the more popular southern and western routes. We recommend Rongai for those who enjoy a more secluded hiking experience.

This route also stands out as the only one that passes by Mawenzi, one of Kilimanjaro’s three volcanic cones and the third-highest peak in Africa. On the return journey, you’ll descend via Marangu, allowing you to experience both sides of the mountain. While six- and seven-day itineraries are available, opting for a longer program is advisable for improved acclimatization and a smoother transition to higher altitudes.
